Welcome to the official website of the Krieger Mountain Complex Police Department.

KMCPD is tasked with protecting and serving the interests of the KMC Research Facility, the surrounding area and the people who occupy that space.

The KMC covers a fairly large geographic area comprised of the primary and secondary research buildings, the 'compass points' housing areas and the airfield & heliport. KMC has all the same issues of a small city with the added complexity of multiple security levels. The perimeter of the KMC is completely secure and no one is allowed inside that perimeter without proper ID and security checks.

The KMC airfield and heliport are for KMC use ONLY and are closed to General Aviation traffic.

If you are a new employee or contractor for KMC, you will be contacted by a CID officer from KMCPD to set up your security checks. Do not attempt to enter the facility until cleared to do so and issued proper identification.

Police Officers assigned to KMC have the same authority as any police officer you would meet on the street as well as the enhanced authority assigned to them by the security protocols you agree to when entering the KMC facility.

Police Officers may be wearing uniforms or be in plain clothes and may or may not be using marked patrol vehicles. All Officers will carry proper ID and you have the right to challenge them to show it to you.

Visiting KMC:

If you are planning a visit to KMC to see a friend or relative, please have that person contact KMCPD to arrange for your clearance. Do not attempt to make a 'surprise visit' as protocols do not allow us to let you enter the premises.

If you are visiting KMC for professional purposes your sponsor will contact KMCPD for you.

In either case, you will be provided with proper directions for driving or flight.
